Jay Spearing was left thinking about what might have been after Bolton finally hit top form.

Two goals in either half set Dougie Freedman’s side up for a 4-0 romp as they picked up back-to-back wins for the first time since November.

Ex-Liverpool man Spearing, who skippered the side, got himself on the scoresheet and reckons his side were just too hot to handle.

“From the first minute to the end, every single one of us was on fire and we wanted that win,” he said.

“We thoroughly deserve it, it could have been five or six in the end,” he said.

“It’s been a long time coming. It’s about time.

“I’ve always believed in the lads and the quality and the standard that we have in this group.

“We’re a little bit gutted it’s taken so long, but we can only go on from this now.
