1) Who are ya?
Danny Fishwick, Aged 24, from Bury in Lancashire
2) Who do you support?
Blackburn Rovers (GM – oh well, someone has to I ‘spose…)
3) What was your first game?
Blackburn vs Man Utd in 1993 apparently (not that I remember much about it).
4) What do you do for a job?
I’m a Sports Rehabilitator, which is part of the medical team within a sports club.
While attempting to reach my goal of working in full time sport I am working as a recruitment consultant in an office specialising in Logistics / Freight Forwarding.
5) Have you played/worked for any football clubs?
I am currently working as head of the medical department at Chorley Football Club, managed by Garry Flitcroft and Matt Jansen, playing in the Northern (Evo-Stik) Premier
Previously worked for Huddersfield Town for 3 years (First Team and Academy) as well as Bolton Wanderers Academy (GM – yay!), Wigan Warriors, Altrincham FC, Stalybridge Celtic and worked with Perth Glory in Australia during a year working out there.
6) How did you get into it?
Started in Uni where I did placements with Huddersfield Town which was initially a month and led to part time / full time positions, I was also working part time with Stalybridge Celtic shadowing their physio, since then I worked on my own at the likes of Ashton United, Altrincham, Armadale (WA) and now Chorley, but the aim is full time sport.
7) What do you get out of it?
Huge satisfaction doing the role I love to do, and treating a player on the pitch and throughout the treatment and rehabilitation process, up to bringing them back into the sport and seeing them running and playing freely is hugely satisfying. I love my job and meeting the people that I do.
8) What advice would you give someone wanting to follow in your stud marks/footsteps?
Work at it and never give up, people reach their dreams through hard work and persistence – only the lucky ones fall into it.
9) If you could do it all again what would you change?
I wouldn’t change anything as everything happens for a reason and I would rather regret doing something than regret not doing something.
10) Who’s your footballing hero?
Medical-wise my hero is Dave Fevre at Blackburn Rovers as, in my opinion, he is my role model and has the best job in the world; but Alan Shearer was my idol as a child at Blackburn Rovers.
